Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams, each consisting of nine players. The game is played on a diamond-shaped field with four bases arranged in a square. The objective is for one team, the offense, to hit a pitched ball and score runs by advancing around the bases to reach home plate, while the other team, the defense, tries to prevent scoring by getting batters out through various means, such as catching balls in the air or throwing them to bases before runners arrive. Baseball features nine innings, where both teams have a turn to bat and a turn to field in each inning. The team with the most runs at the end of the game wins. The sport is characterized by its unique terminology, strategies, and statistics, and is regarded as America’s pastime, with a rich history and a significant cultural impact.
