Economy

The term “economy” refers to the system by which goods and services are produced, distributed, and consumed within a society. It encompasses the various activities involved in the management of resources, including labor, capital, and natural resources, to satisfy the needs and wants of individuals and communities. Economies can be characterized as market-based, command, or mixed, depending on the level of government intervention and the role of market forces. The performance of an economy is often measured by indicators such as gross domestic product (GDP), unemployment rates, and inflation. Additionally, the economy can include various sectors—such as agriculture, manufacturing, and services—that contribute to overall economic activity. In a broader context, the term can also refer to the economic conditions of a specific region or country, as well as the study of these systems in economics, which seeks to analyze and explain how economic agents interact within the economy.
