Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score more goals than the opposing team by moving a spherical ball into the opponent’s goal, primarily using feet, but also allowing players to use other parts of their bodies except their arms and hands (with the exception of the goalkeeper). Football is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with specific dimensions, and includes various positions such as forwards, midfielders, defenders, and goalkeepers.

The game is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, established by the International Football Association Board (IFAB). Football is one of the most popular sports worldwide, with various professional leagues, tournaments, and events, including the FIFA World Cup, which is the premier international competition. The sport promotes teamwork, strategy, physical fitness, and global engagement, often uniting fans and communities across different cultures. While the term “football” refers specifically to the sport known as soccer in some countries (like the US and Canada), it is commonly used to describe the sport in most parts of the world.
