Soccer

Soccer, known as football in most countries outside of North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net, primarily using any part of the body except the hands and arms; only the goalkeeper is allowed to handle the ball within a designated area. The game is played on a rectangular field, usually referred to as a pitch, with goals at either end. It is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, maintained by the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

Soccer is one of the most popular sports in the world, known for its global appeal and large fan following. It is played at various levels, from amateur to professional, and encompasses international competitions such as the FIFA World Cup and regional tournaments. The sport emphasizes skills such as dribbling, passing, tackling, and teamwork, and fosters physical fitness, coordination, and strategic thinking among its players. Soccer’s simplicity and minimal equipment requirements contribute to its widespread accessibility and popularity across different cultures and communities.
