Turkey

Turkey refers to a country located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, bordered by eight countries and the Mediterranean, Aegean, and Black Seas. It is partially situated in southeastern Europe and largely in western Asia. The capital city is Ankara, while Istanbul is its largest city and a major cultural and economic hub. Turkey has a rich history that includes influences from various civilizations, including the Hittites, Phrygians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, and Ottomans. The modern Republic of Turkey was founded in 1923 after the fall of the Ottoman Empire. The official language is Turkish, and the country is known for its diverse culture, which blends elements from both the East and West. Turkey’s geography features a variety of landscapes, including mountains, plains, and coastlines. It is also known for its significant archaeological sites, including Troy, Ephesus, and Cappadocia, as well as its rich culinary traditions. Turkey plays a significant role in regional and global politics and is a member of various international organizations, including NATO and the G20.
